Acne is the medical term for pimples. The sebaceous glands or oil glands of the skin are under the influence of the hormones. When there is an increased oil secretion, the glands tend to get blocked (forming black / white head or comedone) and the sebum secreted gets accumulated in the gland. The bacteria like Propionobacterium acnes overgrow in this oily medium and cause inflammation (swelling, pain redness) or a pimple.

Facts about Acne
- It usually affects teenage boys/girls but, can also affect adults.
- Acne can be treated and well controlled with modern treatments.
- Do not squeeze acne lesions(pimples) and get treated early to avoid scars and hyperpigmentation.
- Acne can be aggravated by stress , steroids , greasy cosmetics etc.
- Treatment for acne can be with creams, oral antibiotics, oral retinoids, peels, microdermabrasion and light treatment.

Acne scarring can sometimes develop as a complication of acne. Any type of acne spot can lead to scarring, but it is more common when the most serious types of spots (nodules and cysts) burst and damage nearby skin. Scarring can also occur if you pick or squeeze your spots, so it is important not to do this. There are three main types of acne scars:

1) Ice pick scars
- small deep holes in the surface of your skin that look like the skin has been punctured with a sharp object
2) Rolling scars
caused by bands of scar tissue that form under the skin, giving the surface of the skin a rolling and uneven appearance
3) Boxcar scars
round or oval depressions, or craters, in the skin.

After treatment for acne scarring, most people notice a 50-75% improvement in their appearance. Some of the available treatments for acne scarring are explained below.
1) chemical peeling
2) Dermaroller
3) Scar subcision
4) Punch excision of scars

The Dermaroller Therapy provides advanced micro-medical skin-needling, a procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier and younger-looking skin. Dermaroller is a natural skin regeneration and Scar Repair Therapy also used in the process of stretch mark removal. Dermaroller is an alternative treatment to our range of Laser treatments, with a significantly shorter recovery time, and can significantly improve the appearance of:
Facial and dicolletage lines and wrinkles
Stretch marks
Aged and sun damaged skin
Scars (including acne)
Rejuvenation of hands

A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun.
Chemical peels are used to treat
- Acne
- Acne scars
- Hyperpigmentation
- Fine lines / signs of ageing
Treatment is pain-free, though some peels can lead to light swelling of the affected area or peeling of the skin for a few days after the procedure.

Melasma, also called chloasma and pregnancy mask, is a common skin condition of adults in which light to dark brown or greyish patches of pigmentation develop mainly on facial skin. The exact cause is not known, but several factors can contribute. These include pregnancy, hormonal drugs such as the oral contraceptive pill, and medical conditions that affect hormone levels. Sunshine can make the melasma worse. Melasma treatments fall into the following categories, and can be used together:
- Avoiding known trigger factors, such as the oral contraceptive pill.
- Adopting appropriate sun avoidance measures and using sun-blocking creams.
- Skin-lightening agents.
- Chemical peels
- Microdermabrasion
- Laser treatment.

Botox treatment is treatment with botulinum toxin . It is used as anti-wrinkle treatment .When you concentrate, squint or frown, the muscles in your face contract. After years of frequent contraction combined with other environmental and lifestyle factors, lines and wrinkles will form and eventually become permanent. When the muscles in our face move, a message is sent from the brain via nerves to the muscles, instructing them to contract. Anti-wrinkle injectables are a natural protein that works by interrupting this process, leaving those muscles unable to crease the skin. It is known that,if Botox is used regularly it can delay and prevent the signs of ageing. It is important to avoid anything strenuous for 24 hours such as going to the gym after the procedure. Side effects are rare, but occasionally some clients experience bruising, but this usually fades quickly.
Botox is also used to treat excessive sweating(under arms & palms)

Dermal fillers are injections used to fill out wrinkles and creases in the skin. They can also be used to increase the volume and definition of the lips.

One of the treatments for anti ageing is LED Face Mask. LED Facial Masks, aslo known as color light therapy, uses UV free, specific wavelength to boost collagen production, promote circulation, treat existing acne and kill bacteria. The mask uses three different colored LED's red, blue & green.

PRP therapy involves harvesting platelets from the patient’s own blood in order to inject them into problem skin areas, giving it the nicknames Vampire Facelift and Dracula Therapy. Before the procedure, a small amount of blood is taken from the patient and put into a centrifuge, where the blood is spun in order to separate the red blood cells from the platelet plasma. The platelet plasma, is then activated and injected into the chosen area, where it plumps up the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

When the platelet plasma is injected into the skin, the platelets release their growth factors. The growth factors stimulate other cells surrounding the injection site, plumping them up and causing them to increase in volume. The platelet plasma sends out signals other cells.

One cell that is stimulated during the process is the fibroblast cell, which is the cell type that creates collagen. Collagen is what gives skin a youthful appearance. As we age, collagen is produced less and less, causing wrinkles and fine lines in the skin, and therapies such as PRP therapy that stimulate collagen production can counteract this. Another cell stimulated during the process is the pre-adipocyte cell, which is a cell type that can convert into a fat cell, which is especially important in the face to fill out lines and to contour the face.

PRP therapy can be used on the face, particularly around the eyes, mouth and nose, the backs of the hands, scars and all over the body, more commonly the décolletage and to give youthful and radiant appearance.
